TRA Hosting GCC Meeting

APTLD The Telecommunication Regulatory Authority of the UAE (TRA), in coordination with the GCC Telecommunication Bureau office, hosted the following meetings in Dubai.

The 3rd Meeting of the GCC Team for the World Radiocommunication Conference 2007 (WRC-07) Preparation from 9-11 June 2007 at the Murouj Rotana Hotel.

  • The 25th Coordination Meeting between the GCC  member states and representatives from the US Department of Defense (US-DoD) to discuss Radar Interferences and Frequency Coordinations in the Gulf Region, from 12-13 June 2007, at the Murouj Rotana Hotel.

The first meeting attended by delegates from all the related sectors within the GCC Countries who are using Telecommunication equipments and services, as the agenda items of the (WRC-07) discuss many subjects related to the services of these parties.  The first meeting discussed the results of the 2nd preparatory meeting of the conference (CPM 2) which was held in Geneva during the period Feb.19 to Mar.2nd 2007.  There were thorough discussions of the papers which was presented by GCC member states regarding their views on (WRC-07) agenda items.  As a conclusion of this discussion the meeting came up with technical Unified papers including the GCC views on all of the agenda items of the conference.

These GCC Common papers presented and discussed in the Arab Spectrum Management Group meeting which held in Syria from 22 – 26 July 2007 in order to be credited as Unified Arab papers for the Arab Group participation in the Forthcoming WRC -07 Conference.

The second meeting attended by delegates from all the GCC countries in addition to a high level delegation from the Department of defense in the United States of America (US-DoD).  The main objective of the meeting was to discuss the GCC reports on Radar interferences in the Gulf Region caused by US Ships and forces existing in the Arabian Gulf as well as the US DOD responses regarding these interference reports and the actions that were taken to eliminate these interferences.   Further, there were discussions on the views of the US-DoD on the WRC-07 agenda items in order to coordinate the positions of both sides (GCC Countries & US-DoD) for the favor of their interests.
