The TRA participated in the 9th International Defence Exhibition & Conference 2009 (IDEX’09) that took place at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), on 22 – 26 February 2009. The TRA participated in this important event, which is considered one of the top events globally, to present services related to monitoring and securing spectrum all over the UAE, in addition to a stand for one of its initiatives represented by the UAE Computer Emergency Response Team (aeCERT).
During IDEX’09, however, the TRA signed one contract and two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), and was visited by UAE decision makers.
In this respect, the TRA Stand was visited by H.H. Gen. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and H.E. Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research; along with other decision makers and interested parties and individuals visiting the exhibition.

All visitors were interested in the services presented by the TRA at IDEX’09, including one of the Mobile Monitoring Vehicles for monitoring the spectrum frequencies within the UAE, and the National Threat Monitor of the aeCERT.
During IDEX’09, the TRA Director General signed a contract with the Technology for Communication International (TCI) to provide the TRA state-of-the-art fixed monitoring stations for 10 million. TCI International is one of the leading global providers of innovative radio frequency (RF) solutions for spectrum monitoring. The TRA Director General also signed two MoUs with H.E. Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan, where the TRA sponsors the establishing of the “Telecommunications Regulatory Authority Professor in Information and Communication Technology (ICT)” at the Higher Colleges of Technology, to provide UAE national students with opportunities to develop skills and careers in ICT; and with H.E. Major General Obaid Al Hayeri Al Ketbi, Deputy Commander of Abu Dhabi Police, where the aeCERT provides Abu Dhabi Police with specific services to enhance the security posture of Abu Dhabi Police IT infrastructure, through providing advisory, education and awareness, along with consultancy, monitoring and incident response, and research and analysis.
