H. H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, announced the ‘Mobile Government’ initiative in May 2013 to further realise his vision of providing services to people wherever they are and at any time.
Sheikh Mohammed stressed that the initiative was another step towards better public services highlighting the fact that the UAE was ranked seventh on the ‘online service index’ in the UN’s E-Government Survey 2012.
The new initiative aims to prod government entities to work out creative solutions for providing services efficiently through simple and transparent procedures round-the-clock that meet customers’ expectations. Furthermore, it aims to stress on communication with customers to enable a high quality of life for UAE nationals and expatriate residents, in line with the UAE Vision 2021.
The ‘Mobile Government’ initiative will utilize mobile phones, mobile devices and other advanced technological tools to deliver services and information to the public.
