Abu Dhabi, 19 November 2007

Within the primary goal of the UAE Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) to act as a social responsible citizen seeking to serve the UAE cultural movement and to support the National artwork, the TRA purchased from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development, 36 abstract paintings from 13 talented national artists, to decorate the head office of the TRA.

In this respect, H.E. Abdulrahman Mohammed Al-Owais, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, stated: “We highly appreciate the TRA role in supporting the UAE cultural dynamics, contributing in surfacing the basis of abstract art and encouraging the talents of national abstract artists through adopting their artwork. Bearing in mind that the artworks purchased tackled a number of subjects with national, traditional and humanitarian nature, encompassing creative colors and shapes to envisage man and nation in a contemporary style.”

In his turn, H.E. Mohamed Al Ghanim, TRA Board Member & Director General, commented: “It is within the TRA primary responsibility as a responsible social citizen to focus on national talents and creativity especially for national artists being one of the main pillars of cultural progress with their artistic energy, creativity and expectations.”

“This is not the first initiative for the TRA in supporting national talents and creativity in numerous fields, where Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is integrated within its structural framework”, Mr. Al Ghanim added.

The 36 selected abstract paintings were by Abdulqader Al-Rais, Mohammed Al-Qassab, Obeid Suroor, Mohammed Mandy, Hakeem Al-Ghazaly, Thaer Hilal, Hakem Ghannam, Mouza Obeid Al-Suweidi, Hussien Shereef, Narjes Nooreldeen, Mona Adbulqader Al Ali, Abdulraheem Salem, and Dr. Najat Makki.
