Due to the huge success achieved by the UAE Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) on the Arabic and International levels, the TRA held a meeting with its Iraqi counterpart, the Communications and Media Commission (CMC) at the TRA headquarters in Abu Dhabi, as per the request of the CMC to benefit from the TRA experience in regulating the telecom sector of the UAE.
The TRA delegate was headed by H.E. Mohamed N. Al Ghanim, TRA Board Member & Director General, encompassing all the Directors and Managers of the TRA various departments and sections; the CMC delegate was headed by H.E. Dr. Siyamend Othman, CEO, the Deputy CEO for Administrative Affairs, Head of Administration Department, Chief of Licensing Department, Legal Office Manager, Spectrum Department Manager and the Editor-in-Chief of the CMC Official Magazine.
The meeting was opened by H.E. Mohamed Al Ghanim, who gave a brief on the establishment of the TRA and the decisions and procedures it placed and implemented, followed by detailed presentations of the various departments of the TRA presented by the Head of each department. The presentations were followed by queries raised by the CMC and answered in details by the TRA. After the meeting was concluded, the TRA held a luncheon honoring the Iraqi delegate.
Finally, the TRA presented the CMC CEO with the TRA Shield and a traditional gift, where the CMC thanked the TRA for the hospitality and the fruitful meeting that almost answered all their questions; where H.E. Dr. Othman expressed his wish for this meeting to be the first step towards a more bilateral cooperation between both sides for the benefit of the telecom sectors of both countries.
