Seeking continuously to contribute in supporting the initiatives and events that work on developing the UAE Telecom Sector, the UAE Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) is officially supporting the “Middle East Communications Exhibition & Conference (MECOM) 2008” that will take place on 26 – 28 May 2008, at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).
In this respect, H.E. Mohamed Nasser Al Ghanim, TRA Board Member & Director General, said: “It is MECOM second year that is taking place as a result of the success of MECOM 2007. This event is considered one of the most important activity in the region, and the first of its kind in the city of Abu Dhabi. Hence, the TRA is not only the Official Supporter, but is a Platinum Sponsor through one of its initiatives, «ICT Fund». MECOM 2008 is likely witnessing the participation of around 100 exhibitors representing the most prestigious local, regional and international communications corporations and institutions; MECOM Conference entitled: «Trends & Best Practices for the Communications Sector»; and the Strategic Telecoms Summit that will witness over 40 high profile local, regional and international speakers.”
In his turn, H.E. Ahmad Humaid Al-Mazrouie, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the ICT Fund & Board Member of the TRA, stated: “It is within the organizational strategy of the ICT Fund to encourage and support such activities that would build bridges of communications among the ICT sector’s pillars on the local, regional and international levels to exchange ideas and expertise in order to enhance on continuous basis the ICT sector to cope with the rapid progress of the sector’s industry. The organizing of such an event in the city of Abu Dhabi contributes in supporting the TRA and the Fund’s strategies that aim to establish the UAE as a regional ICT hub, and one of the most important ICT centers internationally.”
However, the TRA is participating with a stand in Hall (2), Stand (2A 10), presenting all its initiatives: «ICT (Information & Communications Technology) Fund», «aeCERT (UAE Computer Emergency Response Team)», «.aeDA (.ae Domain Administration)» and «Be’tha (Arabic for Scholarship»; where the specialized teams of each initiative will be present to explain to the public the nature and purpose of each initiative.
