The Telecommunications Regulatory Authorty (TRA), represented by the National Computer Emergency Response Team, obtained the British standard BS 25999-2:2007 certification for implementing business continuity management (BCM) system.
This Business Management System ensures continuity of service provision by (aeCERT) to its constituents. The National Computer Emergency Response Team has also created business continuity management system framework and risk assessment framework based on BS 25999-2:2007 and ISO 27001:2005 standards. These frameworks will assist constituents in following these standards and implementing these management systems.
H.E. Mohamed Nasser Al Ghanim, TRA Director General said: “TRA is keen to provide its constituents with world-class services; therefore we make strenuous efforts to obtain the most sophisticated certification standard.”
“Gaining the BS 25999-2:2007 certification will increase (aeCERT) knowledge in assisting constituents to obtain these standards and implementing these management systems by providing frameworks.” Added Al Ghanim.
The BS 25999-2:2007 certification suits large or small organization, from any sector. It is particularly relevant for organizations which operate in high risk environments such as finance, telecommunications, transport and the public sector, where the ability to continue operating is paramount for the organization itself and its customers and stakeholders.
By helping to put the fundamentals of a BCM system in place, the standard is designed to keep your business going during the most challenging and unexpected circumstances such as protecting your staff, preserving reputation and providing the ability to continue to operate and trade.
On the other hand, the Director of aeCERT, Tariq Al Hawi added: “The National Computer Emergency Response Team (aeCERT) aims at enhancing the standards and practice of IT security. It also commits to preserving a safeguarded cyber security infrastructure in parallel with the TRA strategy which aims at securing a safe electronic space for the country, its citizens and residents”.
