The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), represented by the Computer Emergency Response Team (aeCERT), participated in Emirates Group IT Security Awareness Road Shows. The road shows conducted over several days targeting various departments of Emirates Group Staff.
The road shows included presentations about latest security threats and security best practices that should be followed while using various IT formats such as email, social networking websites, mobile phones, etc. Multiple discussion groups with Emirates staff held to give them a comprehensive information background on data protection.
“TRA is eager to spread IT security among all segments in the country. The UAE Computer Emergency Response Team (aeCERT) participated previously with Emirates Group to conduct IT security workshops and we believe that the future will witness more cooperation in this regard,” said H.E. Mohamed Nasser Al Ghanim, TRA Director General.
“The growing complexity of IT systems and their security has created multiple challenges for enterprises and employees across the region. Concerned entities and government bodies must address a number of security issues to enhance IT performance and to update their employees with the latest tools and behaviors that can protect them from internet threats,” added Al Ghanim.
Participating in these road shows is a continuation to the workshops conducted in 2010, however, this time the target audience will be Emirates Group staff located in Danata, building which includes mainly cabin crew.
The emergence of new of malware and malicious websites has become a daily reality. This endangers enterprises and is a cause of a potential loss of revenue, customers, and has other harmful business implications.
The UAE Computer Emergency Response Team (aeCERT), a TRA initiative was established to combat these issues. In 2008 the aeCERT team started to facilitate detection, prevention and response of cyber security incidents on the Internet. The team has provided implementation mechanisms for TRA’s strategy in support of a safe cyber environment for the residents of the UAE.
