The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of the UAE (TRA), out of its commitment to ensure the best services for the telecom customers in the UAE to safeguard competition in the telecom sector, out of its commitment to the public to be transparent, and to emphasize that the two UAE telecom operators adhere to the regulations, policies and standards put by the TRA within the framework of international best practice; the TRA issued a Written Warning to «du» for failing to meet its license obligations with respect to providing national and international call services from homes and offices in the UAE, by dates specified in the license. The TRA issued the Written Warning on Sunday, July 15, 2007.

The TRA approved to postpone the deadlines for «du», but after issuing the warning, to insist on the seriousness of violating deadline obligations that affects negatively the spirit of competition in the UAE telecom sector and the choice of the customers with respect to the telecom services.

H.E. Mohamed Al Ghanim, TRA Board Member and Director General, commented on the matter, saying, “We expect «du» to meet the new deadlines set by the TRA, where we will reveal the concerning dates in due time, when competition for national and international call services are expected in UAE homes and offices.”
