TRA celebrates UAE National Day

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) celebrated the 47th National Day of the United Arab Emirates. The celebration included a series of heritage, national and cultural activities that were in line with this great occasion and reflected the originality and humanitarian values rooted in the Emirati people. The celebrations took place in TRA Abu Dhabi and Dubai with the participation of TRA employees and clients.

On this occasion, H.E. Saeed Sultan Al Suwaidi, Acting TRA Director General, said: “Today we light the 47th candle of the triumphant development process that began since the first day of the declaration of the Union back in 1971. It has been 47 years of work, giving and dedication that have elevated our country to the ranks of the developed nations. It is a process that started by the people of the UAE, led by late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and is being continued under the leadership of H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and his brothers, the Rulers of the Emirates towards the desired goal of making the UAE the top country in the world in all fields.”

H.E. Al Suwaidi stressed that the uniqueness of this year's National Day comes from the fact that it coincides with UAE’s Year of Zayed, adding: “This year we celebrate the Union and its founder, we celebrate the great man who had worked so long to see great achievements happen. Here, I can only renew, on behalf of all TRA employees and people working in the ICT sector, the pledge of commitment and hard, continuous work in order to achieve all the objectives set by the leadership in this regard, improve the status and name of the UAE and raise its flag high in all regional and international events and forums.”

The National Day events focused on the heritage and traditions of the UAE based on love, tolerance and generosity. The calendar of events included heritage performances, art performances by a traditional military team, traditional cooking arts and the preparation of Arabic coffee. The calendar of events also included honoring a number of TRA employees as part of the ‘I’m positive, I'm happy’ initiative.

The TRA's celebrations of the National Day are the culmination of a year of achievements, the most important of which is the organization of the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference 2018, which was described as the most successful in the history of the ITU, as stated by its Secretary-General, Houlin Zhao, and a large number of participating heads of delegation.
