The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has celebrated the Emirati Women’s Day, which falls on 28 August every year, under this year’s theme “Women as a Symbol of Tolerance”. TRA held several activities on this occasion, reflecting the important role of Emirati women in the journey of building and developing the country.
This year’s events highlighted the significant role played by Emirati women in the continuous successes achieved by our country in all fields in general and in ICT in particular. The events included displaying a video on the most important achievements of Emirati women and their vital role in the UAE development.
TRA also held a morning “Afternoon Tea”, in which female employees met and exchanged views and ideas to improve the role of women in the technical sectors including the telecom sector, and the best ways to engage Emirati women in these fields. The event also included a number of competitions that focused on the role of Emirati women in society.
H.E. Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, TRA Director General, sent SMS to all TRA female employees greeting them on the Emirati Women’s Day, as they became a symbol of giving and success, at home or the workplace. On this occasion, H.E. Al Mansoori said: “Emirati women have been able to prove their place and potential in the building and development journey of our beloved country. Emirati women have proven that they deserve the confidence of our wise leadership, and that they are capable of taking the highest positions, leading the most important institutions and achieving successive successes. Emirati women, who are committed to their great mission as mothers and educators, have achieved the difficult equation by reconciling work with family and excelling in both institutions: family and career. Emirati women have preserved the values of the UAE community by educating their children on the authentic Emirati customs and traditions, raising them to love their country and be loyal to its leadership. At the same time, they contributed to achieving the leading position of the UAE as a strong, young and civilized country, that is safe and secure, and filled with happiness and well-being”
H.E. Al Mansoori added: “As we celebrate tolerance as a great human value this year, we emphasize that the prestigious status of Emirati women reflects the value of tolerance in our Emirati society, where there is no differentiation between men and women in work and education. With the continuous support of our wise leadership, Emirati women have achieved unprecedented successes at all levels, with the endless support of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak “Mother of the Nation”, President of the General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairperson of the Family Development Foundation, and President of Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, whom has been keen to enhance the presence of Emirati women by supporting their empowerment programs and involving them in development plans in all aspects of public life, making the Emirati woman a role model in enhancing the values of love, tolerance and giving.”
Moreover, TRA female employees assured their intentions to continue their efforts in the UAE journey of building and development, side by side with their brothers, until reaching the first position in the ICT field and achieving the UAE's vision and future goals.
