The Center of Digital Innovation (CoDI) of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has been accredited by the Global Innovation Institute to become the first of its kind to receive such accreditation in the Middle East. This achievement reflects the success of the state-of-the-art methods and strategies adopted by CoDI in applying the concepts of innovation in smart government sector.
The significance of this achievement is derived from the Global Innovation Institute as the only authorized innovation accreditation entity that runs a comprehensive and recognized innovation accreditation program for innovation assets at work, including innovation labs, incubators, accelerators, and innovation training programs.
On this achievement, H.E. Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, TRA Director General said: “Innovation is one of the main drivers of TRA’s work. TRA Strategy highlights innovation as a culture of work, and it activates the role of innovation in improving the quality of provided services in the UAE ICT sector, to keep pace with technological development in the sector, and in line with the National Innovation Strategy launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.”
H.E. Al Mansoori added: “Passing the Accredited Innovation Lab (AInL) examination from Global Innovation Institute is the culmination of a continuous process that began with CoDI’s establishment in 2013, and passed through several phases where it played an essential enabling role in driving the digital transformation of the Federal Government.”
CoDI’s mission includes project design, training, research and development, User Experience Lab, advisory, and capacity building. It cooperates with a number of partners from government, private and academic sectors, to reach the best and most effective methods in providing smart services in the country, in line with the aspirations of UAE and its wise leadership, and to contribute in achieving the UAE Vision 2021 and the National Agenda goals.
CoDI has been accredited by the Global Innovation Institute after undergoing several evaluations including work mechanisms, supporting the innovation system, TRA’s innovation maturity, and employees training on applying innovation mechanisms during their work on TRA projects.
Achieving this international accreditation in the field of innovation confirms TRA’s support to the UAE’s policies in implementing the culture of innovation in the corporate work. Moreover, It enhances the partners’ confidence in the center and helps creating additional partnerships in the future.
CoDI is characterized by its stimulating environment for innovation, research and exploration of new ways to develop and deliver smart government services, in addition to providing a centralized collaboration platform. CoDI includes a comprehensive laboratory to ensure the quality of smart government services and to help government and academic sectors achieve a common level of performance, safety and quality on new and emerging access channels. In addition, CoDI provides advisory services to drive the transition to smart government, by providing support, assistance and guidance in the application and development of services.
