The General Authority for Regulating the Telecommunications Sector (TRA) celebrated the UAE Flag Day with its staff at TRA building in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, expressing the pride of the UAE people in their country’s flag, which is a symbol of belonging and unity, and emphasizing that this annual occasion is a confirmation of the ‘unified home’ concept, and of the sense of belonging that only becomes more firm and established with time. The national anthem echoed across TRA halls, in an atmosphere filled with honor and privilege. The celebration was started with a virtual speech delivered by H.E. Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, followed by raising the flag in front of the TRA building while playing the UAE national anthem.
Commenting on this event, H.E. Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, TRA Director General, said: “November 3rd is a day for nation, leadership and the future. This day had witnessed a monumental event in the history of our beloved country, represented by the coming of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, to power to continue the same march, raising the banner of development and progress, the same banner carried before him by the founding leader, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. On this day, we are inspired by our fluttering flag, our hearts are filled with feelings of loyalty and belonging, and we pray that God preserve the peace of our dear country and wise leadership.
He added: “Our celebration this year comes at a turning point in the history of our beloved home. The union train is about to reach the first fifty years in its eventful journey, which began with establishing the United Arab Emirates at the hands of its founding leaders in 1971. As we have always been, we look to the past with one eye and the future with another. Today we are getting closer to the 50-year mark, with our eyes open towards the next fifty as we are determined to make it a continuation of a journey full of success and glory, God willing.”
The Flag Day is a national symbolic celebration, emphasizing the values of pride and loyalty to our beloved UAE. It is also an indication of total loyalty, commitment, cohesion and interaction between the nation and its wise leaders. This occasion has a national dimension as it celebrates the anniversary of H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed’s accession to power in the UAE.
Given the exceptional circumstances lived by the world, this year’s Flag Day activities were carried out under a strict environment pursuant to UAE government guidelines to adhere to precautionary measures during the Flag Day celebration. To that end, the TRA fully sterilized the flag raising and attending areas, with attendance limited to 20 persons after testing negative for COVID-19, and adhering to wearing masks and maintaining physical distancing during the flag-raising event.
